Dhoot Transmission, an Aurangabad-based wiring harness firm, has entered into a joint venture agreement with Connecticut-based Carling Technologies to manufacture and sell electro-mechanical and electronic switches in India. The financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Carling Technologies, a world leader in the manufacture of switches for commercial vehicles, offroading and farming vehicles, has facilities in Mexico and China.
“This is a new domain for us, and this deal will help us move into the automobile space in India, which is currently dominated by Mindas. We intend to supply globally through Carling’s marketing channels, while the joint venture will supply two-wheeler switches directly to global OEMs,” said Rahul Dhoot, Managing Director, Dhoot Transmission.
The new JV company, which is yet to be named, will be based out of Aurangabad. Products manufactured by the JV will cater to the Indian two- and three-wheeler, commercial vehicle, agricultural and construction equipment’s market and will also be exported overseas through Carling Technologies' distribution network.
Singhi Advisors, a Mumbai-based global investment banking firm, was the internal advisor for Dhoot Transmission.
The JV firm is expected to commence operations during the first half of 2018.
