Work on the ambitious Rishikesh- Karnaprayag railway line will start next year and will be completed in a time-bound manner, the Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL) said today.

This was conveyed to Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat by RVNL CMD Satish Chandra Agnihotri and Chief Project Manager Himanshu Badoni at a meeting here.

The process of inviting tenders for the long-awaited project has been initiated and work on construction of tunnels will begin by June-July, an official release quoting the RVNL officials said.

Satellite imagery and resolution technology will be used for ground work and location survey for the project, they said.

Terming implementation of the project as one of the priorities of the state government, the chief minister asked officials concerned to complete the land and forest clearance formalities in a time-bound manner.
