Market Now: ITC, HUL drag Nifty FMCG index lower

NEW DELHI: FMCG majors ITC (down 0.56 per cent), GlaxoSmithKline Consumer Healthcare (down 0.32 per cent) and Hindustan Unilever (down 0.28 per cent) were losing in Wednesday's trade, dragging the Nifty FMCG index lower.
The Nifty FMCG index was trading 0.15 per cent down at 25,167 around 10.50 am (IST), being the sole loser among the sectoral indices. Benchmark Nifty50 index was 0.49 per cent up at 10,066, while Sensex was 0.47 per cent up at 32,073 around that time.

Tata Global Beverages (up 3.33 per cent), United Spirits (up 1.61 per cent), United Breweries (up 0.94 per cent), Dabur India (up 0.55 per cent), Godrej Industries (up 0.53 per cent), Emami (up 0.39 per cent) and Jubilant Foodworks (up 0.32 per cent) were among the gainers in the FMCG space.
Coal India Ltd (number of shares traded: 0.51 crore), Idea Cellular (0.39 crore), NHPC (0.31 crore), Ashok Leyland (0.29 crore) and Reliance Industries (0.27 crore) were the most traded stocks on NSE.
Bharti Airtel, Bharti Infratel, Bajaj Auto and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation gained over 2 per cent in the Nifty50 index.
On the NSE, 1111 stocks were advancing, compared with 470 stocks declining and 390 stocks remaining unchanged.
