The State Cabinet has approved the AP Migrants Welfare and Development policy with the objective of supporting the migrants and also assisting the people who aspire to look for employment in other countries.
The Cabinet also approved another proposal to bring all marriage schemes under one umbrella — ‘Chandranna Pelli Kanuka’ — which will be launched in 2018.
The Cabinet, meeting chaired by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, took a serious view of the dengue cases being reported in the State.
Addressing a press conference at the Secretariat on Tuesday, Information and Public Relations (I&PR) Minister K. Srinivasulu said it was estimated that 25 lakh people from the State were residing overseas either for employment or for education purpose. The policy aims at ensuring the safety of the migrants and put in place a grievance redress system. A round-the-clock helpline— AP NRT 24X7— would be launched soon. A fund of ₹40 crore would be created to provide for a suitable insurance coverage for them.
Under the scheme, insurance coverage of ₹10 lakh for accidental death/disability; up to ₹1 lakh for hospitalisation and up to ₹5,000 for legal expenses would be provided to the needy, he said.
The Minister said the government was assisting minorities to perform marriages of their daughters under the Dulhan scheme. Similar schemes were there for SCs and STs. Now the government had come up a scheme for BCs also. All these schemes would be brought under Chandranna Pelli Kanuka. The benefits, however, would remain the same. The BCs would be given ₹30,000 and a proposal to increase it to ₹35,000 was being examined.
Virtual classroom
The government was contemplating making it mandatory that the bride should pass 10th class. It would be implemented over two years now. The bride should attain the age of 18 years while bridegroom should have a minimum age of 21 years, and the bride’s family should be a BPL, he said.
The Cabinet approved a proposal relating to virtual classrooms in the schools. The government would spend ₹160 crore and the project would be ready by December. A draft of Service Delivery Ordinance 2017 with a view to promoting industrial sector was also approved. The guidelines for the same were being prepared, he said.
On seasonal diseases, Mr. Srinivasulu said the CM would review the situation on daily basis. Necessary and sufficient medicines were available at the PHCs. Doctors were available in all Agency areas barring one place. The government would fill vacant posts in non-Agency areas soon, he said.
