Noida gang dupes 37 people from Raj of Rs 1.30 crore: Cops

Jaipur: The gang involved in cheating people in pretext of good investment results had made 37 people its victims in the state and had duped a sum of nearly Rs 1.30 crores.

Two days ago, Jaipur police had arrested nine people from a Noida based call centre from where the gang was operating and asking people to deposit money in lieu of promising good returns in the share market, subsidised insurance premium and others.

"In the so far investigations it was found that the gang had duped nearly 37 people from 18 districts of the state and had cheated Rs 1,30, 68,400 from various people," said Sanjay Agarwal, commissioner of police on Wednesday.

On the modus operandi of the gang, senior officers said that they used to get contact numbers in bulk and from call centre people across the country used to get calls.


"They used to give an account number to their victims asking them to deposit some money to avail benefits suggested by the gang," said a senior officer.


Gang had called victims from districts including Bhilwara, Jodhpur, Jaipur (Rural) ] Jodhpur Sikar, Chittorgarh, Bansawara, Udaipur, Kota, Jaipur, Jalore, Jhalawar,, Tonk, Alwar, bharattpur, Sriganganagar and Pali


It may be recalled that the crime branch of Jaipur police on Monday had busted a gang involved in cheating people on the pretext of promising them various things from giving subsidised premium in their respective insurance policies to hefty profit in investments in share market. A gang with similar modus operandi was busted by the crime branch in the month of June this year when 5 people were arrested by them.
