OnePlus under scanner after user exposes that company collects private data

Using devices manufactured by OnePlus may be putting your privacy at risk. The concern regarding privacy of users arose after reports emerged that the Chinese company’s devices were sending sensitive personal data to its servers.
As per a report in Business Today, the slip was spotted by a OnePlus user Chris D Moore who noticed an anomaly in his OnePlus 2 smartphone that uses the firm's Oxygen OS.
After installing a security tool that tracks the inflow and outflow of data from the phone, Moore discovered that his phone was making requests to open.oneplus.net that directed traffic to a US-based Amazon AWS server.

However, it became evident that OnePlus is collecting user data from most of its devices by the way it responded to the complaint. The company defended its intrusion to private space as an attempt to improve the software and after sales service.

The company claimed that the information collected was only of usage analytics. It also gave details of how users can cancel this transmission by making changes in the phone settings.
Despite a clarification, users and netizens are not convinced. There have been several complaints worldwide about Chinese firms using customer data and revealing it the Chinese government.
