Bhopal: A day after the Supreme Court banned the sale of fire crackers in Delhi-National Capital Region during the Diwali season, the home minister Bhupendra Singh Thakur on Tuesday invited Delhiites to come down to MP to celebrate the festival of lights. The minister tweeted “Madhya Pradesh mein patakhe jalakar Diwali manane ki poori swatantrata hai. Umang ke saath Diwali manaye, Delhi ke mitron ko bhi MP mein amantrit kijiye (in Madhya Pradesh there is full freedom of celebrating Diwali with bursting crackers, celebrate Diwali with enthusiasm. Invite your friends in Delhi to the state).”
The minister also tweeted “Umang, aveg, utsah, josh sahit praffulata se diwali manaye, MP sarkar poore varsh paryavaran sanrakshan ke liye kaam karti hai, kisi ek din nahi (celebrate Diwali with full fervour, MP government works throughout the year for environmental conservation and not just on a single day).”
“All, including those in Delhi are invited to celebrate Diwali with crackers in MP, including state capital Bhopal. Be it in terms of environmental pollution or other respects, our state, including capital Bhopal is safe for Diwali, so come and enjoy the festival of lights here with family,” reiterated Singh later in the evening.
Cong to keep Diwali a low-key affair
To express solidarity with the farmers who are under great distress in the State, the opposition Congress has resolved to observe a low-key Diwali. Taking up the cause of the kisan, the Congress leader Ajay Singh said that woes of farmers are mounting in the state. The state has witnessed suicides by over 100 farmers in over last five months and drought like situation is prevailing in many districts of the state, while no one can forget the killing of five farmers in Mandsaur district, he added.
“At the meeting of senior party leaders chaired by the newly appointed national general secretary in-charge for Madhya Pradesh Deepak Babaria on Monday, I moved a resolution to observe a low-key Diwali, which would be confined to only offering prayers to goddess Laxmi in the homes of party rank and file across the state to express solidarity with the farmers, who are in woeful state. The resolution was adopted unanimously,” said leader of opposition on Tuesday.
