Gujarat to have 16 new industrial estates: Rupani

chief minister Vijay Rupani today announced that the state has decided to form 16 new Industrial Estates in 14 districts to give boost to manufacturing sector.

"We have decided to form 16 industrial estates in the 14 district of the state," he said.


The idea is to give all the facilities to manufacturing industries at local levels so that they get good infrastructure to spread their business, Rupani said.

The 16 industrial estates will be spread in over 2,460 hacters areas and will have 14,540 plots.

"We intend to give plug and play type of infrastructure to small and medium scale industries," he said.

This industrial estates will be managed by Industrial Development Corporation. The state has a total of 201 industrial estates and this 16 will be in addition.

The state also declared garment and apparel policy today under which it has decided to give an financial assistance of Rs 4000 salary to each woman employed in garment and apparel sector, while Rs 3200 will be given per each male worker.

"The minimum salary the units have to give to their workers is 9000. Out of this state will give Rs 4000 for each woman employed in the sector and Rs 3200 for each man for the next five years," Rupani said.

He said the state will also give incentive like loans on annual interest rate of five per cent upto Rs 7.5 crore to establish the unit and Rs 1 per unit relief in electricity bills of such units.

"is the highest producer of cotton, but row bales are sold out of the states and we suffer. This policy will encourage manufacturing of garments and apparel in the state," he said.

The duration of the policy is five years.
