HYDERABAD: Business software maker Zoho will set up a major development centre in Tirupati, information technology minister of Andhra Pradesh Nara Lokesh said on Tuesday .

The announcement came a day after Xerox's business process services arm Conduent agreed to establish its development centre in Visakhapatnam.“Zoho, which is into cloud ERP services, has committed to commence their operations from Tirupati by November,“ Lokesh told journalists on the sidelines of Blockchain Business Conference in Visakhapatnam. “Zoho wants to set up a major development centre at Tirupati and has sought land allocation.“

The government had earlier announced that Stockholm-based fintech startup ChromaWay , has teamed up with the state to build a blockchain-powered solution as a secure and smart system for land registrations. KPMG India, which is acting as the knowledge partner for Fintech Valley in Visakhapatnam, was instrumental in organising the blockchain pilot project in land registrations.

Lokesh said the National Stock Exchange (NSE) of India has also showed interest in setting up its data centre in Visakhapatnam while Wipro has evinced interest in building its blockchain practice in the city. The minister said his government is also trying to bring in regulators like the Reserve Bank of India and the Securities and Exchange Board of India to the coastal city. The Andhra government had earlier announced that it will create one lakh jobs in information technology and two lakh in electronics by 2019. Lokesh said the government has already created over 22,000 jobs in IT and around 40,000 in electronics so far. Several top global and domestic companies have set up or announced plans to establish their offices and factories in Andhra Pradesh, which is the state government is hard selling as a business and investor-friendly destination.

These include leading financial technology company Rubique, which on Tuesday signed a memorandum of understanding with the government to set up its operations in Visakhapatnam's Fintech Valley .

Lokesh said 200 acres of land has been designated for IT companies in the upcoming greenfield capital city Amaravati.
