Sonowal sets Nov 15 deadline to complete road construction projects in Assam's Barak valley

GUWAHATI: Assam chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal has set November 15 as the deadline for completion of all the ongoing road construction projects in three districts of state's Barak valley.
Sonowal issued the direction during a review meeting on status of implementation of the public work department's road projects in the valley on Wednesday.
The meeting was attended by the deputy commissioners, superintendents of police, PWD and forest officials as well as the contractors associated with the projects.
"Ongoing road construction projects must be executed expeditiously so that people can see the real face of development. All stakeholders involved in the construction works will ensure that the projects are completed on or before November 15 ahead of the Namami Barak festival", Sonowal said at the meeting.
The chief minister asked the deputy commissioners of three districts to sit across with the forest officials and the contractors to clear bottlenecks which are delaying road construction works.
Sonowal entrusted PWD minister Parimal Suklabaidya who was also present in the meeting, to monitor the road construction work. The chief minister said he would review the progress of work from Suklabaidya after 15 days.
"The government has been relentlessly working to develop the modes of communication in the region. All of us will have to play a crucial role to in state's development," Sonowal stressed.
