Bad roads claim another life in Bengaluru

Speeding truck runs over a 20-year-old woman in Devanahalli.

Poor condition of roads have claimed another life in Bengaluru. On Tuesday evening, a 20-year-old woman, who was riding pillion, was killed and rider injured by a speeding truck. This is the fourth death caused due to bad roads over the past week.

The accident occurred when the deceased Kavitha, a garment factory worker was riding pillion on a two-wheeler with her sister Vijayalakshmi. They were returning home after visiting a relative. While they were negotiating a bad stretch of road near Shettarahalli Gate in Devanahalli, the duo slipped and fell on the road. While Kavitha was run over by a speeding truck, Vijayalakshmi, who fell on the other side of the road, escaped with minor injuries.

The Devanahalli police said the road where the accident occurred is currently being widened. They said the truck driver abandoned the vehicle and fled the scene.

Investigations are on and the police are on the lookout for the driver.
