It’s a big good news for 7.51 lakh teachers of state and central universities. Narendra Modi Cabinet has finally announced to extend benefits of 7th CPC recommendations to 8 lakh teachers in the universities. The big decision was announced in the Cabinet briefing. This amounts to an increase of around 22% – 28%, Education Minister Prakash Javdekar confirmed. HRD Minister Prakash Javdekar has said that we must attract talent to academics. The increased pay has brought a big smile on the faces of 8 lakh teachers. Here are all the updates:-

8:10 PM “The measures proposed in the revised pay structure are expected to improve quality of higher education and also attract and retain talent,” says the Modi government’s order.

8:07 PM The Central Government will bear the additional burden of the States on account of revision of pay scales, says the Modi govt order.

8:06 PM For the State Govt. funded institutions, the revised pay scales will require adoption by the respective State Governments, according to the govt order.

8:03 PM This revision would register an entry pay growth in the range of 22% to 28 %.

8:02 PM The implementation of this pay revision will enhance the teachers’ pay in the range of Rs. 10,400 and Rs. 49,800 as against the extant entry pay due to the implementation of the 6th Central Pay Commission for the pay of teachers.

8 PM: The annual Central financial liability on account of this measure would be about Rs. 9,800 crore.

7:58 PM: Moreover, the government order has confirmed, “The approved pay scales would be applicable from 1.1.2016.”

7:53 PM: In addition, the revised pay package will cover teachers of 119 Centrally Funded Technical Institutions viz. IITs, IISc, IIMs, IISERs, IIITs, NITIE. etc, according to the order.

7:52 PM: The detailed order by Modi government says, “The decision will benefit 7.58 lakh teachers and equivalent academic staff in the 106 Universities / Colleges which are funded by the UGC/MHRD and also 329 Universities which are funded by State Governments and 12,912 Govt. and private aided colleges affiliated to State Public Universities.


7:50 PM According to the government statement, “The Union Cabinet chaired by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi has given its approval for revision of pay scales for about 8 lakh teachers and other equivalent academic staff in higher educational institutions under the purview of the University Grants Commission (UGC) and in Centrally Funded Technical Institutions, following implementation of the recommendations of the 7th Central Pay Commission for Central Government employees. ”

    Does the government want the votes of only govt. Staff and teachers in the 2019 election? What's the mistake made by others. Why others are not even cared. Too much attention to corruption. But no insistence of Minimum Wages Act to unorganized sector. Minimum wages fixation has not considered 7th pay commission recommendations. Why?
