Sidharth Malhotra-Rakul Preet’s Aiyaary avoids clash with Akshay Kumar-Rajinikanth’s 2.0

Aiyaary: Sidharth Malhotra and Rakul Preet will now hit the screens on February 9 2018.

Filmmaker Neeraj Pandey’s next project Aiyaary, which was due to release on January 26, 2018, will now hit the screens on February 9, 2018, announced the makers on Wednesday. The movie features Sidharth Malhotra, Rakul Preet and Manoj Bajpayee in the lead roles. Aiyaary’s last schedule was shot in Cairo.

Another stellar film which is supposed to release in the Republic Day weekend is Akshay Kumar and Rajinikanth’s 2.0. The project has been creating a lot of buzz for its spectacular cast which also includes Amy Jackson. Is that why Aiyaary’s release dates got postponed? Only the makers can tell.

The crime drama is based on a real-life incident revolving around two strong-minded army officers having contrary yet right views in their own ways. Manoj Bajpayee plays the mentor of protege Sidharth in the Aiyaary. Only recently, Sidharth and Rakul were spotted shooting outside Gurgaon’s Cyber City Hub for a rain song and fans went crazy clicking their pictures.

This is for the first time that Sidharth and Manoj are sharing screen space with each other and we are more than excited. It is also a story about the relationship between a mentor and a protege. Presented by Plan C and Jayantilal Gada (Pen), the project is produced by Shital Bhatia, Dhaval Jayantilal Gada, Motion Picture Capital.

In an earlier interview, Sidharth was quoted as saying, “They (Neeraj Pandey and Manoj Bajpayee) are known for content driven films. I think Special 26 was a great film with a twist. They make universally appealing films. Manoj Bajpayee is a prolific actor. I will gain by working with somebody like him.”

While Sidharth made his debut with Karan Johar’s Student of The Year, Rakul Preet was first seen in Yaariyaan. Then, she signed up for a number of south projects and now she is all set to make her comeback to Bollywood.
