BJP corporator, 20 others booked on attempt to murder, other charges

Eleven days after a man was attacked in front of a police chowky in Yamunanagar, Nigdi police have booked a BJP corporator and 20 others on charges of attempt to murder, physical assault and illegal possession of firearms. Based on an FIR registered by Mahesh Narayan Garule (48), police have booked BJP corporator Tushar Hinge and Pradeep Hinge, Rahul Gaware, Rohit Gaware, Vishal Babar, Shivram Chikhale, Hemant Bhosale, Arvind Bhokare, and others.

In his complaint, Garule said he was at the police chowky on the day of the incident, when the accused came in a car and tried to attack him with a sword. When he managed to evade the assault, the accused hit him with a block of cement, said Garule. Police suspect that certain financial dealings were behind the attack.
