Cops take out helmet awareness rally

GUNTUR: The Guntur urban police took out helmet awareness rally here on Monday. District Collector Kona Sasidhar flagged off the rally. Urban SP Ch Vijaya Rao, police officials and denizens participated in the rally. The rally started from the Collectorate and passed through main thoroughfares of the city including Bus Station, Old Club, Naaz Centre, Sankar Vilas Centre, Kalamandir Centre, Brindavan Garden Centre and culminated at District Police Office. 

Speaking on the occasion, the Collector called upon the people to follow traffic rules. He said that the government is already implementing ‘No helmet-no petrol’ rule strictly to emphasise the importance of wearing a helmet.Urban SP Ch Vijaya Rao said that traffic violators will be penalised and stern action will be taken against them. He said that they have been organising road safety awareness programmes for the last one month in the city.
