With the amazing run that Judwaa 2 has had at the box office till now, it wouldn’t be much of a shocker if the film continues to dominate the theaters this week as well. Collecting Rs 119.09 crores till Monday, Judwaa 2 has been breaking records almost every day now. From entering the coveted Rs 100 crore club to becoming Varun Dhawan’s highest grosser yet, Judwaa 2 is receiving the love of audiences quite unconditionally. Helmed by David Dhawan, Judwaa 2 also stars Taapsee Pannu and Jacqueline Fernandez.

Sharing the latest box office figures, trade analyst Taran Adarsh said, “#Judwaa2 has a ROCK-STEADY Mon… [Week 2] Fri 4.25 cr, Sat 5.75 cr, Sun 8.10 cr, Mon 2.91 cr. Total: ₹ 119.09 cr. India biz. SUPERHIT.” Judwaa 2 is a remake of the 1997 Salman Khan film. And even though remakes haven’t been Bollywood’s cup of tea in the recent past, Judwaa 2 is proving them all wrong. Not just that, just like the original Judwaa, this one too has Varun Dhawan working in a double role.

With the Diwali weekend coming up, Judwaa 2 has much higher ground to aim for. That along with the fact that this week won’t see any big releases apart from Ranchi Diaires may as well add up to the factors working in Judwaa’s favours. Though next week, cinema-goers will see Secret Superstar and Golmaal Again hitting the screens together. Will Judwaa 2 be able to maintain its hold even after new releases like these? Only time will tell.

“Varun wades fully into both characters, and shows a nimble-footedness here and there. He is better at the broad, physical, crotch-lowering ‘gali ka gunda’, than the straight, subdued fella, and judging by the roars and claps of the mostly youthful crowd at the first-day, first-show, he knows it too. Fernandez and Pannu show up and do what they need to when called for: squeal and act surprised and swing to the beat; the latter making the most of her part. Pannu is the real surprise here, and a welcome one. But the material gets too thin and stretched around Judwaa 2’s flab. A character keeps saying: ‘main seedha point pe aata hoon’. You wish the film did too,” wrote Indian Express film critic Shubhra Gupta in her review of ‘Judwaa 2’.
