Cultural events to enliven Soudha on Oct 25, 26

Vidhana Soudha will be the cynosure of all eyes on October 25 and 26 when it walks down memory lane marking its 60th anniversary.

Bengalureans will be witness to cultural programmes which will recapture the legislature’s history and Karnataka’s legacy in the fields of art, culture and literature on the grand steps of Vidhana Soudha.

On October 25, cultural programmes will be held between 5 pm and 8.30 pm replete with a show on ‘3D mapping of Karnataka’ on the facade of Vidhana Soudha. On the occasion, families of the first three chief ministers of the state — K C Reddy, Kengal Hanumanthaiah and Kadidal Manjappa — will be honoured.

The government will also present the lifetime achievement awards to select persons who strived towards the development of Karnataka. President Ramnath Kovind will address a special joint session of the Karnataka legislature from 11 am to 12.30 pm, following which there will be a special discussion on issues related to Karnataka’s history, Kannada language, and formation of Mysore state.

On October 26, two documentaries on the construction and Vidhana Soudha and the evolution of the legislature, made by filmmakers Girish Kasaravalli and T N Seetharam will be screened at the Banquet Hall between 11 am and 1 pm.

There will also be a screening of the film ‘Vidhana Soudha 3D Virtual Reality’ directed by Master Kishan. In the evening, the steps will come to life again with cultural programmes, and a music concert ‘Shanthi Samsara - World music for environmental consciousness’ by musician Ricky Kej and team.
