Man gets life imprisonment for murder

The 5th Additional District and Sessions Judge of Hassan, on Monday, convicted a person accused of murder and an ‘unnatural sexual act’ and sentenced him to life imprisonment.

Dharma of Koudahalli in Sakleshpur taluk is the convicted person. He had an unnatural sexual act with Chetan and murdered him on February 10 in 2015. Further, he had attempted to damage evidence.

The Sakleshpur Town police had booked the case under the Sections of 377, 302, 201 of the Indian Penal Code against the accused. B.K. Manjaiah, the investigating officer, filed the charge-sheet. Additional District and Sessions Judge Gajanana Bhat sentenced him to lifetime imprisonment and slapped a penalty of ₹25,000. For crimes under Section 377, he was sentenced to 10 years imprisonment, and levied a fine ₹5,000. For damaging evidence he received another seven years’ imprisonment and a fine of ₹5,000.
