Civic body launches property tax arrears penalty waiver for over 2 lakh properties

ULHASNAGAR: The Ulhasnagar Municipal Corporation on Monday launched Abhay Yojna scheme to waive the penalty (interest) on property tax arrears for legal and unauthorized constructions.
If the pending tax is paid between October 11 and 25, as high as 75% of the amount will be waived. If it is paid between October 26 and November 10, 50% of the charges will be waived while between November 11 to December 31, 25 % of the charges will be waived.
The proposal under Abhay Yojana on Monday came up at the general body meeting for discussion which is passed by all the members unanimously and later it got sanctioned by Commissioner Rajendra Nimbalkar.
Meena Ailani, Mayor of UMC said, "The concessions will be given for the more than 2 lakh property holders across the city for over two months whose property tax are pending over Rs 300 crores".
"The scheme will help civic body to increase revenue as well as it will be beneficial for citizens who will get waiver on their property tax dues". Said Jeevan Idnani, Deputy Mayor of UMC.
