Bhopal: National Postal Day will be observed in Madhya Pradesh Postal Circle from October 9 to October 14 on the occasion of World Postal Day. Various programmes are being organised, which will continue for next six days. As per the programme, ‘Banking Day’ will be observed on October 10, ‘Postal Life Insurance Day’ will be observed on October 11, ‘Philately Day’ will be observed on October 12 whereas ‘Business Development Day’ and ‘Mail Day’ will be observed on October 13 and 14 respectively.
On October 11, one village in every division will made a ‘Sukanya’ village. Fairs will be organised in villages wherein villagers will be told about ‘Postal Life Insurance’ and other schemes. On October 12, a new ‘My Stamp’ initiative will be launched at Bhopal, Indore and Gwalior. ‘My Stamp’ is the brand name for personalised sheets of Indian postage stamps.
A ‘My Stamp’ counter will be set up at a mall or at public places. Similarly on October 13, a customer meet will be organised and a visit to a post office and railway mail service centre will be organised for school students to let them understand the work done by the postal department.
The main objective is to make people aware about the various schemes under the postal department. The World Postal Day falls on October 9. On this day, Universal Postal Union was established in 1874. Along with India, 192 countries were a part of this Union. It is headquartered in Bern, the capital city of Switzerland. UPU acts as a regulatory body for postal services all over the world.
