GUNTUR: Lime farmers staged a protest demanding cancellation of e-NAM (National Agriculture Market) trading system at Agriculture Market Yard in Tenali of Guntur district on Monday.
Farmers’ union leader Mulaka Sivasambi Reddy demanded cancellation of e-NAM trading system in the market. However, Agriculture Market Yard special grade secretary Sk Rafi said that the Central government is implementing e-NAM system for the benefit of farmers and traders and sought their cooperation for its implementation.
Agriculture Market Yard chairman Gadavarthi Subbaiah and other officials assured the farmers of taking the issue to the notice of the government. Meanwhile, DSP M Snehita rushed to the spot and tried to pacify the farmers. The farmers called off their protest after getting an assurance from market officials and governing body members. Hundreds of vehicles stranded on the Tenali-Guntur main road for nearly two hours.
