Men posing as cops rob 60-year-old

GHAZIABAD: A 60-year-old woman was allegedly robbed by men posing as military personnel and cops in Ghaziabad on Sunday. The incident took place near Govindpuram area at around 6 pm.
The victim, Roshni Singh, a housewife, lives with her husband and elder son in Govindpuram. Her husband, Aman Singh (63), a retired government employee, told TOI, Roshni was apprehended by a person claiming to be a serviceman while waiting to board an auto on a road near Chiranjeev Vihar.
"The man was not in military uniform, however. The man came over and said he was a serviceman and was going to Govindpuram. He asked my wife to accompany him. Minutes later, a yellow Maruti Zen pulled over into which they boarded. There were two men inside the car claiming to be cops but were not in uniform," said Singh.
The woman said the three men asked her about her belongings to which she replied that she had Rs 19,000 cash and some gold ornaments with her. "They requested her to place the items inside an envelope during the journey. When she got down from the car near Govindpuram, they handed her the envelope back. She later realised she had been shortchanged with another envelope that contained a few pebbles and earphone studs," he said.
