Arpora man dies in bike accident

MAPUSA: A 25-year-old Arpora resident died following a fatal accident at Arpora on Monday.
According to the Anjuna police, early Monday morning, at around 3.30am, a scooter rider, Zakhaman Pun, 24, resident of Betim, was proceeding towards Arpora. According to police, Pun was riding his scooter in a rash and negligent manner.
At Arpora, he crashed into an oncoming scooterist Prathmesh Malwankar, 25, a resident of Arpora.
Both riders were rushed to the hospital where Malwankar was declared brought dead while Pun, who sustained injuries, was discharged after treatment.
Malwankar's body was handed over to his relatives after autopsy.
Meanwhile police registered a case under Section 279, 304-A of Indian Penal Code against the accused Pun who was arrested and later released on bail against a bail bond of Rs 10,000.
Anjuna police are investigating the case further.
