German premium motorcycle manufacturer BMW Motorrad has confirmed that the company will launch its much anticipated BMW G 310 R and BMW G 310 GS by in the second half of 2018 calendar year. BMW G 310 R is being developed jointly by BMW Motorrad and TVS Motor Company and is being manufactured from the TVS plant in Hosur, Tamil Nadu. BMW G310 R is also the first BMW motorcycle to be manufactured outside Germany. Reports suggest that BMW G 310 R is already being exported and sold in international markets. BMW Motorrad's current focus in India is to expand its dealership and servicing reach. Before launching its comparative mass product in India. The company plans to have ten dealerships by the end of 2018. Currently, the BMW Motorrad dealerships are in Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Hyderabad and Pune and company plans to expand to Delhi, Cochin and Chennai by end of this year. 2018 will see dealerships in Bengaluru, Chandigarh and Kolkata.
BMW says that it's looking to find the best dealer partners in each of these cities before launching the two motorcycles in India.
Price of BMW G 310 R will be priced competitively and will be at par with KTM Duke 390. With the premium branding of BMW it might be expected that the motorcycle might be a bit more expensive than KTM Duke 390. Expect the price of the motorcycle to be around 2.80 lakh. Enigne of BMW G 310 R gets a 313 cc of displacement, max power of 34 BHP and 28.4 Nm of torque. The G 310 GS will get a the same engine and will feature long travel suspension and larger front wheel being an adventure motorcycle.
On the other hand, as a result of this partnership, TVS Motor Company will launch its own version of this bike in the form of TVS Apache RR 310 S. The motorcycle is scheduled to make its market debut in Q4 of FY 2017-18. We also expect TVS to showcase the production version of this motorcycle at the 2018 Auto Expo scheduled in February 2018.
