The Walking Dead to crossover with Fear the Walking Dead in 2018

Both The Walking Dead and Fear the Walking Dead air on AMC.

Zombie drama The Walking Dead and its spin-off Fear the Walking Dead will officially enter into a crossover next year. The creator of TWD comic book series Robert Kirkman confirmed the news at New York Comic-Con, reported The Independent. Kirkman said the much-awaited event sees one character appear in both shows but did not reveal who will he/she be.

“There is one character that is going to go from one show, that I will not name, to another show, that I will not name. This is a huge event in the world of The Walking Dead,” he said. While The Walking Dead season eight starts on October 22, the third season of Fear The Walking Dead will end on October 15.

The Walking Dead, which premiered in 2010, has been a long-running series that has maintained consistently good ratings for AMC even after the flagship show Breaking Bad went off-air. The show was developed by Frank Darabont who has a considerable experience in adapting books for film having directed several Stephen King adaptations like The Shawshank Redemption, The Green Mile and The Mist.

Darabont based the story loosely on comic book series of the same name by  Robert Kirkman, Tony Moore, and Charlie Adlard. The series was noted as being different from other zombie apocalypse TV series and movies especially in its tone that veered not towards campy but towards gritty and realistic.

The series has also been criticised for being slow in pace and for having a lot of bloodshed and gore. Andrew Lincoln plays the primary character Rick Grimes who leads a group of hardy survivors across the United States.
