Dulquer comes in defence of Solo ; begs not to kill it

Clearly affected by the criticism surrounding his latest release, Solo, actor Dulquer Salman took to Facebook in support of the movie. In a heartfelt message, Dulquer begged not to kill Solo. 
Insisting that the movie, directed by Bejoy Nambiar,  turned out to be much better than he imagined,  the actor says he loved every second of it.  He posted: "Sure there are a few issues here and there, in terms of language, because it is a bilingual and maybe the Shekhar track needed a longer screen time. But, I absolutely loved the film. The original version. The version my director, Bejoy Nambiar envisioned." (sic) 
The response comes in view of the criticism the climax of the last part, The World of Rudra, faced. With many lambasting it,  the climax of the Malayalam version was allegedly changed without the consent of the director.  

Bejoy had taken to Twitter to express his protest over the new climax.  
In the long post, Dulquer says it breaks his heart when several people mock and hoot and write badly about his favourite track, The Rudra story.  "It excited all of us actors. Be it Nasser Sir, Hasini Ma'am, Neha or Me, we were kicked that it was so unique and bold. It's based on true incidents and there have been several news stories like it. We wanted to make a film about it. We thought the best way to tell it was through humour. So, when people say it became unintentionally funny I don't get it," he adds.
Dulquer goes on to say that the climax has been one of the greatest scenes in his career. 

"Sadly because it was awkward, people didn't understand if they were laughing with us (the makers) or laughing at us (the makers). Dark comedies are meant to be awkward. Always have been. That was our intention. So mocking it, booing in theatres, spreading negativity and hate and degrading the film because you didn't get it, just kills the film," he says.The actor ends the post by saying that he stands by Bejoy. "And his version. Always. Cutting, shuffling or whatever by persons unrelated to the making of the film will also aid in killing it," he says.
