Producer says the programme will be aired on October 19

Close on the heels of the German Television ProSieben and American film-maker Jamie Dorby making a documentary on the kid archer Cherukuri Shivani, it is the turn of news channel, the New Delhi Television (NDTV), to make a film on the child prodigy.

Speaking to The Hindu, Shivani’s father Cherukuri Satyanarayana said the NDTV, which had come to know about the recent extraordinary feats of the child prodigy, had approached him and expressed its willingness to shoot a film. “They came to know about her entry into the Asia Book of Records the India Book of Records in the recurve segment recently.”

NDTV producer Sashank Singh said the channel was airing a special programme on talented young kids and the film, which would be made for seven minutes, would be aired on October 19 - Deepavali day.

“Mr. Satyanarayana has already provided all the inputs, data and visual details about the five-year and six-month old wonder kid, who has already won a national medal by participating in the national cadet championship meant for archers below the age of nine years,” Mr. Singh.

Travel plans

The channel would soon decide the travel plans to Vijayawada to shoot the film.

Incidentally, young Shivani, who is pursuing first class in the KKR Gowtham Public School, is all set to make her first international appearance when she takes part in the Indoor World Youth archery championship to be held in Bangkok on December 4 and 5.

“She was given a special entry considering her talent and she will be taking part in the under 14 segment. She will shoot from a distance of 18 metres on to the target-face of 40-cms,” said Mr. Satyanarayana.
