TPCC vice-president and former MP Ponnam Prabhakar flayed the TRS government for not fulfilling the promise of constructing a double bedroom house to Telangana martyr constable Kistaiah’s family in Karimnagar town.
Two years ago, elected representatives of the district performed ground breaking ceremony for the construction of double bedroom house for constable Kistaiah’s family with much pomp and gaiety at Sapthagiri Colony in Karimnagar, but not a single brick was placed on the site afterwards, he alleged.
Mr Prabhakar took the media to the proposed double bedroom house site on Monday. The site was fully inundated with flood waters and covered with bushes. “Where is the house? Is this how the government respects the martyrs’ family without fulfilling the promise of providing shelter and respecting the bereaved family”, he asked.
Reminding that the State government had itself claimed that Telangana was formed due to the sacrifices made by over 1200 Telangana martyrs, he said that the government had provided financial assistance to only 450 martyrs’ families.
“Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao and his family want a palatial bungalow spread over nine acres of land constructed at the cost of public exchequer. But, the Telangana martyrs’ families do not have any shelter and are leading a miserable life after losing their beloved ones for the cause of separate State,” he said.
