BENGALURU: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah lost his cool as he fielded questions from reporters on the appointment of former Vice-Chancellor of  Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU) as the General Secretary of  Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) IT cell, here on Monday. Former VC Maheshappa’s exit from VTU had been controversial as he was forced to step down following charges of huge financial irregularities at the varsity during his tenure.

“Yeddyurappa had gone to jail, what do you say to this?” Siddaramaiah shot back when asked about Maheshappa’s appointment. “Which one is more serious? Appointing Yeddyurappa who had gone to jail as the  BJP president or appointing a man who was asked to step down, to the party IT cell,” Siddaramaiah questioned.

Minister against move
Higher Education Minister Basavaraja Rayareddy said he would be talking to KPCC president
G Parameshwara to complain about the appointment of former VTU VC H Maheshappa as General Secretary of its IT Cell. “The appointment is not right and all the allegations of corruption against Maheshappa are correct,” he said.
