Maha govt approves climate change adaptation policy

The cabinet today approved a climate change adaptation policy that will focus on developing environment-friendly villages and cities.

A statement issued by the Chief Minister's office stated that a special cell under the state Environment department will be set up for the effective implementation of the policy.


The focus of this policy will be to develop environment-friendly villages and cities, it said.

The cabinet also approved provision of funds for agricultural pumps, approval of special scheme for pending agricultural pumps in and region.

The cabinet also gave its nod for a grant of Rs 10 lakh to the Akhil Bharatiya Marathi Sahitya Mahamandal and six other regional educational institutions.

For the development of basic infrastructure of 26 municipal corporations in A and D category in the state, the state also increased subsidy from 50 per cent to 75 per cent.
