Man kills wife to avenge daughter’s death

MALKANGIRI:IN a shocking incident, a man battered his wife to death after the latter killed their daughter on Sunday evening. The incident, which took place at Godiput village under Biralaxmanpur panchayat within Malkangiri police limits, came to light on Monday morning.

Sources said Bati Khara (35) severely beat her five-year-old daughter Anjali and two-year-old son Arjun in an inebriated condition on Sunday evening.While Anjali died on the spot, Arjun became unconscious after the merciless beating. The incident took place when Bati’s husband Laxman Khara (42) was not present in the house.

On his return in the night, Laxman found his daughter dead and son lying unconscious in the house. Angered over his daughter’s death, Laxman in a fit of rage battered Bati to death with a wooden stick.
Sources said Laxman’s injured son Arjun has been admitted to Pandripani primary hospital and his condition is stated to be stable.

On being informed, Malkangiri police rushed to the remote village on Monday and arrested Laxman. The bodies of Bati and Anjali were sent for autopsy, said Malkangiri IIC Ranjan Kumar Sahu.
