65-year-old Kerala priest arrested for sexually abusing minor girl inside church

Kerala Police on Monday arrested a 65-year-old priest from Thiruvananthapuram for allegedly sexually abusing a 10-year-old school girl inside a church.

The incident took place when the victim had gone to a church for taking Bible lessons, the police said.

The accused Father Devaraj of Kandanthitta CSI church has been booked under POSCO (Prevention of Children from Sexual Offences) Act and Section 376 of the IPC (rape).

The girl's father alleged that he saw his daughter being abused by the accused when he came to pick her up, and immediately informed the police.

The accused was working as priest in the church for the past one year, according to the police.
