Police have begun investigating the attack, suspected to be a case of political violence.
The attack on Suresh was reported a day after BJP leaders and workers, including Union Ministers 
Kiren Rijiju and 
VK Singh, protested against political killings in Kerala.
The Communist Party - Marxist (CPM) countered the move with a protest of their own.
