23-year-old had lost her memory after being hit with brick

A woman who lost her memory after an attack in south-east Delhi’s Pul Prahladpur in June has held her former boyfriend responsible. The accused has now been arrested.

Severe head injuries

The 23-year-old was found lying injured and unconscious on the roof of an under-construction building on June 13. Some labourers found the victim, Madhuri, and took her to a nearby hospital.

She had severe head injuries and underwent treatment for two months, and recuperated slowly.

However, when the police went to record her statement, Madhuri told them that she could not remember anything related to the crime as she had lost her memory.

Last week, she claimed that 25-year-old Ravi Singh alias Tinku had attacked her with a brick after she rejected his marriage proposal.

‘Hit multiple times’

He had allegedly hit her multiple times on the head before fleeing. He was later arrested from Uttar Pradesh.

“When she fell unconscious, Tinku panicked and left the crime scene, leaving her in a pool of blood,” said a senior police officer.

“Madhuri’s statement was recorded as she has regained her lost memory. We collected details about Tinku and arrested him from his native village in Uttar Pradesh on Sunday,” added the officer.
