4 members of Makkal Athigaram lodged in jail

Coimbatore: The Coimbatore district court on Monday remanded four members of the Makkal Athigaram-Makkal Iyakkam in judicial custody till October 21.
The members - Siddharthan G, Mahesh, Tamilariyan and Saravana Kumar - were arrested on Sunday for distributing pamphlets and collecting donation to conduct a meeting against GST, NEET and other central government schemes.
As per police officials, eight were arrested in total and of these four were remanded. "We received a complaint from Ranjith Kumar of Hindu Munnani. These four members went to Ranjith Kumar's shop on 80 Feet Road near Ramanathapuram and demanded donation for the meeting. They had some notices against the BJP and their ideologies. Ranjith Kumar got angry and informed the police. He alleged in his complaint that these four members threatened him and forced him to give donation," said a police officer.
The Race Course police have registered a case against other members of the Makkal Athigaram as well and said they were indulging in anti-social activities.
