Passenger suffocated after stoppage

A female passenger fell unconscious inside a temporarily stopped metro train after feeling suffocated on Sunday morning. The train had stopped because of a glitch as it approached the Kashmere Gate metro station.

A Delhi Metro spokesperson said a portion of the overhead wire had snapped, forcing the Red Line train to stop.

Emergency evacuation

According to the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), the passengers started feeling suffocated and it was decided to open the emergency door to evacuate passengers.

Meanwhile, a quick response team of the CISF rushed to the spot and helped evacuate passengers through the emergency exit.

“A 30-year-old passenger, Neha Jain, was found unconscious inside the metro train by the CISF team. She was brought to the Kashmere Gate metro station safely. Thereafter a stretcher was provided and Ms. Jain was sent to St Stephen’s Hospital for treatment,” said an officer.
