Slams Centre; says communal forces trying to disturb peace

The Popular Front of India (PFI) has condemned the alleged attempts to portray the organisation in bad light by the Central government agencies and the Sangh Parivar. The organisation was responding to reports that the Centre is planning to ban it.

At a conference organised here on the theme “We too have something to say”, PFI chairman E. Abubacker said there was an attempt to target the organisation and a section of the media was conducting a trial and pronouncing a verdict without listening to its version.

To counter this, the PFI was organising conferences across the country, he said, adding that attempts were made in the past also to ban the organisation but without any success.

Mr. Abubacker also slammed the anti-people policies of the BJP government and pointed to the threat of communal forces looking to disturb peace and harmony.

Mohammed Ismail, State president, said attempts were made to link the organisation with the Islamic State. He also slammed the BJP government’s demonetisation and Goods and Services Tax, which, he said, had affected the common man.
