Photo by BL SONI Mumbai: The fire in tank 13 at MOT is still continuing. The intensity of heat has come down slightly than what it was in the morning. The tank has collapsed a bit inwards but the fire is contained within the tank and is in control.
The combined firefighting team from Mumbai Port Trust, Mumbai Fire Brigade, CIDCO n OMCs led by BPCL is very efficiently handling the fire fighting operations. The team is continuing the cooling of the affected tank as well as adjacent tanks. It is a matter of time now that the residual product inside the affected tank is burnt completely and the fire gets extinguished. The products in all the tanks have almost been transferred to the refinery. There is no injury or casualty. Due to this incident it is confirmed that there will no shortage of HSD to supply to the market, said Manohar Rao Executive Director HSSE, BPCL in Mumbai.
