Alia Bhatt has an answer to everything and she had a take on ‘short-lived’ careers of female actors in Bollywood. At the MAMI Movie Mela, the Badrinath Ki Dulhania actor was asked why don’t we see Madhuri Dixit and her likes paired opposite Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan.

Alia was also asked why these ‘older’ actors are seen romancing or being paired against much younger actresses instead. There was also a question whether Alia feels insecure, given that as a female actor, her acting career could also be short-lived.

Tackling the question, Alia Bhatt opined that the trend is changing and that older actresses are seen working far more than earlier. But, she also blamed writers for not writing parts for older female actors for them to be cast against senior actors like Salman Khan, Shah Rukh Khan, Akshay Kumar and Ajay Devgn in Bollywood today.

Alia said, “I do feel that the trend is changing. Eventually it all depends on our writers. If the writers are writing films for actresses who are older, after marriage, fifty-sixty-seventy-forty, doesn’t matter, I feel it all depends on the parts written for them. I am somebody who is very passionate about acting, so I don’t mind playing any character if it has an impact on storytelling. So, hopefully I will be acting till I turn 90. And I hope I will be saying bye to the world from a film set.”

While Alia Bhatt very confidently spoke on the changing trend, what is alarming is that younger and newer female actors are being cast opposite the leading male actors.
