Thor Ragnarok early reviews: The new Marvel film is funny, spectacular and exciting

Thor: Ragnarok will release in theatres on November 3.

The release of Thor: Ragnarok seems far away even though it will hit the theatres in less than a month now. It is the appeal of the Marvel films that is to blame for this impatience, and especially the much awaited bromance between two of the most powerful superheroes – The Incredible Hulk and Thor. The early reviews of the film are in, and it seems the movie is going to be super fun with spectacular visuals, action and loads of humour.

Directed by New Zealander Taika Waititi, who is otherwise known for delightful comedies like Hunt for the Wilderpeople and What We Do in the Shadows, Thor: Ragnarok seems to have the director’s trademark humour and also Marvel Studios’ colourful visual quality that we have come to love ever since Iron Man hit theatres.

Just like Captain America: Civil War was not just a Captain American film, this is not just a Thor film. This time around Thor actually has a formidable villain in Hela – the Goddess of Death who pulverised Thor’s precious hammer, Mjolnir, as though it was a toy. She was sent to rule the underworld by Thor’s father, Odin, himself. Topping all of that is the improvised ensemble of Thor, Hulk, Valkyrie and… Loki! Turns out, Thor is doomed to deal with Loki his whole life. And you can imagine Hela’s power if it would take these four to take her out.

Starring the usual suspects Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Mark Ruffalo as Hulk, Tom Hiddleston as Loki and Anthony Hopkins as Odin, the cast also adds Cate Blanchett as the menacing Hela and Tessa Thompson as Valkyrie. Thor: Ragnarok will release in theatres in November 3.
