NEW DELHI: Philips Lighting India plans to increase its headcount by a fourth in the next two years by hiring employees mainly for newer functions such as cloud computing, mobile app development, data science and systems engineering.

India accounts for 3,500 of the company’s 34,000-odd employees in nearly 70 countries. “We are planning a 20% increase in hiring in innovation and R&D. We will also look at a 30% increase in systems and services, encompassing systems engineering, project management for connected lighting, IoT, digital control and systems,” said global CHRO Gordana Landen.

Talent will primarily be sourced through campus hiring at engineering colleges, in addition to lateral hiring.
