Water Resources Minister Devineni Umamaheswara Rao said the linking of the Godavari and Krishna rivers with the Penna would start taking shape after the completion of the LIDAR survey by the Water and Power Consultancy Services (India) Limited, which is around the corner.
Addressing mediapersons here on Sunday, Mr. Rao said it would be another milestone after the Godavari water was made to flow into the Krishna through the Pattiseema project.
He claimed that the government had so far spent about ₹45,000 crore on various projects and even the Union Minister for Shipping and Water Resources Nitin Gadkari had expressed satisfaction with the progress of the projects taken up by the TDP government, including the Polavaram which gained pace in recent months.

“Unfortunately, YSR Congress president Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy was making some farmers file petitions in courts to derive political mileage out of the trouble in which the government would land if the projects get delayed,” Mr. Umamaheswara Rao said.
