Amid rumours of joining Cong, Vijayashankar leads BJP rally

MYSURU:Former MP C H Vijayashankar, who has set tongues wagging, after his photo with Chief Minister Siddaramaiah went viral on social media recently, dropping enough hints of him switching over to the Congress, on Sunday took out a padayatra of farmers under the banner of BJP  Raitha Morcha.

Speaking to media persons here on Sunday, Vijayashankar, who heads the morcha as its state unit president, said: “I met the Chief Cinister during the 11th day ceremony of his son Rakesh Siddaramaiah a year ago. It was the same photo, that has gone viral now and there is no meeting thereafter.”
To a particular query on his plans to quit the BJP, Vijayashankar who neither denied nor confirmed the decision, however, went on to vent his anguish against those leaders, whose name he promised to reveal after sometime who are indulging in groupism in the organisation.

“The party has given me sufficient opportunities in my 30 year-long association with the organisation. However, the dissenting nature of some leaders has caused pain,” said Vijayashankar.
He also reiterated that he was forced to contest the previous Lok Sabha elections from Hassan while his winning prospects were good from Mysuru-Kodagu constituency.

He also clarified that most of senior leaders of the party have called on him and is confident of resolving the issues soon.On the padayatra of farmers, Vijayashankar said it is intended at drawing the attention of the state government towards various issues plaguing the agrarian community.
