In separate cases, two passengers were found carrying empty cartridges in their bags at the city's domestic airport here today, officials said.

In the first incident, one passenger travelling to New by GoAir flight was found carrying two bullet shells in his bags. In the second incident, a Mangalore-bound passenger, travelling by SpiceJet, was found in possession of one empty cartridge, a senior official said.

"The empty cartridges were detected during screening of their luggage at the airport," he said.

"The cartridges detected were not live and cannot be fired. But since they are a part of ammunition, they cannot be carried on board," the official said.

According to him, prima facie the passengers had no malafide intention and the empty cases were kept in their bags unintentionally.

The empty cartridges were seized and the passengers were allowed to go, the official said.
