Rajkot: The mother of a suicide victim — who had ended her life on September 30 — lodged a complaint against her son-in-law on Sunday night for abetting the suicide of her daughter.
Victim Payal Mali (19) had hanged herself to death from the ceiling of her residence at Vrajbhumi Residency, Hadala Gam, on Morbi Road in Rajkot. In her complaint, Nitu Dharajiya (42), a resident of Swastik Villa Society on Morbi Road, alleged that Mahendra Mali (22) used to mentally and physically torture her daughter Payal, tired of which she committed suicide.
"The complainant said that both Mahendra and Payal had been married for the past one year without legal formalities of registration. We have booked Mahendra under various sections of the Indian Penal Code for suicide abetment and domestic violence," an official from Mahila police station said.
