NEW DELHI: Jindal Steel & Power (up 4.36 per cent), Vakrangee (up 2.40 per cent), Piramal Enterprises (up 2.10 per cent) and Mahindra & Mahindra Financial Services (up 2.07 per cent) were the top gainers of the BSE Midcap index, each gaining over 2 per cent.

Broader midcap index was trailing benchmark Sensex in Monday's trade.

The S&P BSE Midcap index was trading 0.29 per cent up at 15,886 around 10:40 am (IST), while Sensex was 0.33 per cent up at 31,918. The Nifty50 index was 0.29 per cent up at 10,009 around the same time.

GRUH Finance (up 1.97 per cent), Tata Chemicals (up 1.41 per cent), TVS Motor Company (up 1.36 per cent), Steel Authority of India (SAIL) (up 1.24 per cent) and MRF (up 1.12 per cent) were the other significant gainers in the midcap index.

Among the losers in the midcap space, Adani Enterprises declined over 3 per cent.

Aditya Birla Fashion and Retail (down 1.81 per cent), Adani Power (down 1.78 per cent), Crompton Greaves Consumer Electricals (down 1.73 per cent), Torrent Power (down 1.64 per cent), Biocon (down 1.57 per cent) and Bayer Cropscience (down 1.49 per cent) declined up to 2 per cent.

Among the 51 stocks in the Nifty index, 33 were trading in the green, while 17 were in red.

Shares of JP Associates, South Indian Bank, JSPL, Sintex Inds., Reliance Comm, Sun Pha Adv Res, Religare, GMR Infra, Suzlon Energy, Unitech, Federal Bank, Adani Enterprises were among most traded securities on the National Stock Exchange in Monday's trade.
