TRS MLC Farooq Hussain was booked by the city police for allegedly attempting to attack a woman who claimed to have let out her house to him.
According to Nampally Police Inspector R. Sanjay Kumar, the woman Amat-ul-Wasay, an NRI who lives in the US, visited the flat in Lakdikapul where the MLC was staying. She had asked the MLC to vacate the house, to which Hussain allegedly responded with abuses and threats. The police have booked Hussain for criminal intimidation and attempting to outrage the modest of a woman with Sections 504, 506 and 509 of IPC.
A video of the altercation between Wasay and Hussain, captured on camera, has gone viral. The video shows the woman demanding that Hussain vacate her flat and that she would raise the issue in the media, besides approaching the Chief Minister. The MLC can be heard telling the woman to do what she can to vacate him, following which the video shows the MLC hurdling abuses at Wasay.
In her complaint, Wasay also alleged Hussain attempted to strike her with a slipper. She told the police that Hussain had not vacated the house despite repeated requests made to him over a period of two years. He had defaulted on payment of six months rent, Wasay claimed. While addressing the media in the afternoon over the issue, Hussain levelled allegations of blackmail against Wasay and claimed he was abused. “I was given the house by Mohammed Samad with whom I have made the agreement for the house and I regularly paid him the rent for the last five years. I was not aware that the woman is the owner. I have been not been able to reach the two people with whom I have dealt,” he said.
