GDA bulldoze illegal construction in floodplain area, razed

Press Trust of India  |  Ghaziabad

The Development Authority's Enforcement Department today demolished the site office of two realtors allegedly involved in unauthorised construction of colonies in the floodplain area of the Arthla village lake.

The officiating GDA vice-chairman, Ravinder Godbole, said that the lake falls in floodplain area and the authority cannot sanction any map for the construction of colonies there.

"Two builders were selling plots on 20,000 and 6,000 yards land. Notices were issued to them to stop the illegal project, but they ignored it," he said.

Today the enforcement team, not only demolished the construction, but razed the newly constructed bricks road by the builders, the officer said.

No construction without sanctioned map will be permitted in the GDA limits, Godbole added.
