Kerala school raises funds the selfless way

NEW DELHI: A Kerala school is showing the country the selfless way to raise funds.
At the launch of the 'master plan of development' at Kanimangalam SN School for Girls, state education minister C Raveendranath announced that the government would provide the school funds proportionate to those raised by the management.
On hearing this, a former student, Vaishnavi, donated the gold bangle she was wearing.
Other students and teachers in attendance - both old and new - began to follow her example.
Counsellor Sheeba Paulson gave away her bracelet, while librarian PP Davis donated his gold ring.
P Susheela, a retired teacher, wrote a cheque for Rs 50,000, which was actually her pension money.
The school's teachers decided to donated a month's salary to the cause.
These noble gestures helped the school raise Rs 10 lakh in a single day.
