Defence minister Nirmala Sitharaman visited the India-China border in Sikkim on October 7. She interacted with Indian and Chinese army officials at Nathu La. She later met Sikkim chief minister Pawan Chamling at his official residence and sought the state government’s intervention in solving the issues between the Army and the state’s forest department. After the visit, the minister went to Tezpur, as she visited the the Gajraj Corps headquarters and IAF's eastern airbase in Tezpur. She inspected the arsenal at Air Force station and interacted with IAF and army officials.
